I’m a firm believer that every time you learn a new skill or learn a new piece of knowledge, then it assists other parts of your brain or skill set to grow. If you teach someone else, then they grow too. With that in mind, I offer individual and group workshops that are either informative, hands on or both. They include, but aren’t limited to the following….
Introduction to Permaculture.
This is a 3-hour workshop for the absolute beginner looking for a taste of what permaculture is. The history, the ethics and principals and a kick start on site analysis and garden design for your place. This runs as a group workshop and can be run from anywhere.
These workshops can be tailored for individual, or group sessions (group sessions are recommended), and the content can also be adjusted depending whether you want to build freestanding walls, retaining walls, or do a paving project. Past participants in stone tuition have been incredibly satisfied by their results, and have saved a good sum of money by completing work themselves.
Composting/Worm farming/DIY Liquid fertilizer.
Get your head around composting and learn how and why it works. Get the balance right in your worm farm, and learn how to make your own liquid fertilizers including compost tea ad weed tea.
We’ll look at making compost bins with a few different material types, and using the off shelf worm farm, or up scaling to the bathtub version.
These workshops teach people in a group setting to use tools, starting at the most basic like hammers, handsaws, hand drills, chisels, spanners… then ramp up to use electric and cordless drills, power saws, grinders and jigsaws.
Each workshop can focus on establishing skills then creating a project together.
These workshops are aimed at beginners or intermediates wanting a bit of extra practice and guidance. The workshops can be run specifically as women or men only groups, teenagers, retirees etc.
*More advanced specialized training can be arranged for welding.
…and if there’s other skills or ideas you’d like to learn about that aren’t offered here, I can facilitate work shops with experts in all manner of things. Some examples are…earth building methods, wood oven cooking, fruit tree maintenance, cider, beer and wine making, sough dough baking, food preserving and pickling, edible weed identification and uses, etc.
And who doesn’t love a field trip…
At various times of the year, and occasionally in conjunction with work shops, I’ll conduct garden tours at both my home and on other properties to inspire and teach people. These will be promoted as they come up.
I love playing about with found items like wood and stone and steel, and will work on commissions or assist you with your ideas if you need technical advise or skills training specific to your project.
Any sculpture I have for sale will be promoted here or on the face book page.
